Apple's iPhone 6 has attracted a barrage of jokes on social media, after reports of the iPhone 6 Plus bending when placed in back pockets or while wearing slim-fit jeans. And it's not just people in general, big corporate houses from Samsung to Nestle are also taking a dig at the iPhone 6.
Rival smartphone maker Samsung took a jibe at Apple and tweeted a picture its Galaxy Note Edge with the words: "Curved. Not bent."
Nestle's KitKat tweeted, "We don't bend, we break" with a picture of a chocolate bar broken into two.
Beer brand Heineken tweeted a picture of a bent beer bottle cap, saying, "No worries...it happens to us all the time."
LG tweeted a picture with its phones flexing and said, "Our phone doesn't bend...it flexes on purpose."
"Bending" of the iPhone 6 plus has been christened 'bendgate' on social media.
Apple on Friday came out with a clarification on the iPhone 6 bending reports saying, "With normal use, a bend in iPhone is extremely rare and through our first six days of sale, a total of nine customers have contacted Apple with a bent iPhone 6 Plus."
This is not the first time, however, that there have been reports of the iPhone bending. Cases of the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 5s bending had been reported in 2013 by Cult of Mac- a website that exclusively covers Apple.
